Dont forget to look at the "Trunking Primer" and as for scanner I would go for the Uniden 396T Law and fire lots of room for data. http://www.uniden.com/products/productd ... r=Handheld

SDmedic take a look at this ... the Trunkning Primer http://www.scandiego.com/primer/san_die ... primer.htm

Also are you looking to listen to radio reports? The County RCS covers the majority of the calls, this might make it easier until you learn how the systems and scanner work.

I like IPN and the fact that they compensate the dispatchers for the effort they provide, like free service and points that can be exchanged for pager service and scanners. Not only that you can fine tune your pages to shootings in Chula Vista or 2 alarm in oceanside or even trun off or delay pages....

the random dead key is as I understand it a part of the station alerting, it has somthing to do with the unit having to key up a radio, this was put on a "channel" that was least likley to have radio traffic on it. But as I said Im not 100% on this.

sounds like Santee has moved the new Medic 204 (second medic in station 4) to Station 5 and changed to Medic 5
