N588LE - 2004 Robinson Helicopter R22 BETA, C/N: 3588

Hard landing on the Swami's Beach in Encinitas 8:AM. Feb 18th,2009
Per Northcomm the N number is N588LE.
Tail rotor broke off(damage). Two pilot/crew is out walking around.
Ordering a flatbed tow truck for the helicopter.

Note: Per Northcomm fire radio traffic. They said the helicopter was 'Black' in color.
and the photo is 'Blue'. Per KFMB video It has the same paint design.

Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing At Swamis Beach

A civilian helicopter was forced to make an emergency landing just south of Swamis Beach in Cardiff Wednesday morning.
Life guards are on scene and the FAA will be coming out to conduct an investigation.
No injuries have been reported so far.

CARDIFF BY THE SEA, Calif. -- A civilian helicopter has made an emergency landing one half-mile south of Swami's Beach due to mechanical problems, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. No injuries are reported.

The two-seater helicopter is reporter to have damage to the rear rotor but two people walked away from the landing with no reports of injuries, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
10News crews are on their way to the scene.

Beach not the best place to land (for the sake of damage), but not the worst either (for not dying).
