IMPERIAL COUNTY TALK GROUPS original list out of date

Come here to talk about the San Diego and Imperial County Regional Communications System. This is a great resource to share talkgroups and information about the countywide RCS.

For pocho

Post by satcom40 »

39440 is Holtville PD.

40080 is definetly Calexico FD (Main) and their secondary (man-to-man) is 40096. Station "C" is the dispatcher. The same dispatcher is also known as Station "5" for the PD.

Calexico PD is 39344. Due to "blank" areas and testing, they are using the conventional frequency 859.1250 for their main channel as of this date. All others, tac, investigations, etc. are still on digital. I sleep days and do not yet know what the Public Works number is.

My wife is a Calexico police officer and I just love her Motorola HT. I hate it though that I can't get get the Id's to match ours!!

My wife's HT

Post by satcom400 »

I would LOVE to key the mike on my wife's HT, jp186, yet it's a big no-no since the log/screen would show each and every time the ID of the officer doing so at the station. Doing so would leave a record and I do not want to get my wife in trouble!

Guest... 25488 is an Imperial County Sheriff's Office (ICSO) #. It's ID/label is IMA COCALL. It is a mutual aid channel. ECFD is still bickering about the change-over. They are still at 153.890 and fiqure "IF it ain't broke, why fix it?" Of course, money and "politics" may be a factor too. Also as stated by 31, CHP still is using the 42 mhz band to this day.

Your welcome pocho!

Did you know that you can't pick up the control frequency and talkgroups up north in the Salton Sea area? There was nada, until I found 857.2250 and got ALL ICSO chatter (including fire) and also all of Brawley - Westmoreland and Calipatria only. Then when we came back home in EC, 857.2250 was no use and it was back to 865.2500 and the other one again. There is a big difference between the north and south range of Imperial County.

Now I have a question... At exactly 5:00 am on the dot, on Imperial County ID #/talkgroup 35760, it is used by a woman who says, "Good morning. Caltrans Maintenance is now online/open" or something to that effect. I'm puzzled because they are State and I have yet to hear any chatter on that channel after her announcement.

My wife's HT cont...

31, you wrote,

"If someone with connections to a radio would run trunker you wouldnt even have to key the radio to follow it do to auto affiliation."

Could you put that in digital newbie language for me?

My wife's Motorola ASTRO HT (black in color) is programmed with just the very basics you can get. So is my brother-in-law's (bright yellow in color). He is the Fire Chief of the all volunteer fire department up in Salton Sea Beach (a Salton Sea community).

As an example, neither my wife's or her brother's HT are capable of the use of "phone", private lines, encrypting, etc.. "Auto" and "trunker" are never shown on the built in screens either. They aren't even programmed to show the users ID#!

Also, in your sticky, it's Calexico - not Colexico.

Talkgroup #'s are never shown on the HT. All the "zones" and channels with their abbreviated words is what I will post. Later on, we can try to figure out/match with what means what and so on. Even if I removed the antenna, put the HT under the cushions of our couch and keyed it, my wife says it would still register her ID at the station(s).

31... El Centro PD (Station 3) is also the dispatcher for the city of Imperial PD (Station 4). The city of Imperial units/officers are always Id'ed as "Ocean" then number (such as Ocean 12) as to not confuse them with El Centro PD who use just regular ID numbers. What's funny though, is that both ECPD and the city of Imperial PD officers always say "One" or "Station One" when speaking to dispatch even though it is officially Station 3 for El Centro and Station 4 for Imperial. Also, Station 9 is Brawley PD (which is the dispatcher for Westmoreland and Calipatria too) and Station 10 is Holtville PD.

There are three female police officers in Calexico. Only one of them is married and is my wife. She goes by "Paul" eleven. Paul is short for patrol. When "they" fix the dead spots, she tells me that they will then go back to digital. Since Calexico is/was one of the last hold-outs to go to 800, a line-of-sight from the ICSO tower is still non-existant. I've seen the "map" and Calexico is visibly absent.

Gave up with the satcom40(& 400) ID here and re-registered as Scott47.

39488 (showing on my wife's HT) is LEM ISO CTAC I have heard more than a few deputies refer to it as TAC1.

41392 is definitely used by ICSO and I strongly suspect it is an East TG since I have only heard chatter coming from them from Hotlville all the way to Winterhaven.

41376 is also used by ICSO, yet not enough chatter to zero in on for its use.

40784 is Holtville Fire Department.

40320 is El Centro Fire Deptartment yet they still use 153.890 as their main frequency. I have heard the same PD station dispatch voices use both 40320 and 153.890 simutanuously when paging out for a "fire" call. FD always responds on vhf only. Testing going on? Time will tell. We had a motel burn down early morning on 2/28 and all fire traffic was used on 153.890, including their command post. Mutual aid was called in from Calexico, Imperial, Brawely, Calipatria, and even the Naval Air Station (Blue Angels winter training base) and ALSO a call for a ladder truck from Mexicali.

Listened and also watched, since it was only a block from my house, as to what was going on. Intersting to note that EL Centro (PD) dispatch uses 154.430 to page out both the city of Imperial and Calipatria for FD calls. Calipatria is closer to Brawley yet after many years, EC still is the dispatch for them. The same is true for Imperial even though that city has contracted with the county for their fire department needs. 41104 is used as the main "fire/rescue" TG everywhere else in this county except for this city/area. Go figure.

You can delete this post too, 31, since it is redundant. Any new info I gleam about it, I will post later on.

Ocotillo VFD is not dispatched by Heartland, and never has been. Heartland dispatches Ocotillo Wells VFD, but has never done so on a conventional frequency. Heartland took over dispatching the Inland departments from SDSO communications when the Inland Departments switched over to the RCS. Heartland has never been the dispatch center for any agency in Imperial County.

My wife is a Calexico police officer. The "Handie-Talkie" (HT) is the property of the city of Calexico and is issued to all police officers working for the city. They are allowed to take them home for recharging before returning back to duty.
