Does anybody know if the air tankers the County is leasing for the fire season have arrived in the area yet? Also, where are they based, or going to be based if they aren't here yet? Since it sounds like the CDF isn't very happy about them being here, I can't see them being based at the Ramona Air Attack Base.

From what I've heard the County will be receiving 2 Super Scoopers in Sept. and 1 Lead Plane in Aug. Have'nt heard where they will be based.

Thanks. As I'm in LA this weekend and saw LA County's planes, I started wondering myself.

If one, would happen to find themselves on fiesta island on 9-16-2008 at 1:30pm, they might encounter a demonstration of two CL-415's and air attack 690 for the media.

I just discovered that what was the Canadair CL-415 is now known as the Bombardier 415, built by Bombardier Amphibious Aircraft, and marketed in the U.S. as the Superscooper.
