Change in 'Fire Travel Channels'?

Ongoing discussions regarding other fire dispatching in San Diego County including Heartland, NorthComm, Monte Vista, etc. Topics about general wildland fire scanning are also welcome here.

Change in 'Fire Travel Channels'?

Post by SkipSanders »

Copied from RadioReference California forum, from 'Trooperdude':

-----------
Fire Travel channels being replaced with CESRS

The current fire travel channel frequencies ( a federal system ) are being re-farmed by the feds, and will no longer be available for use as of the coming fire season.

The state is scrambling for a replacement, and it looks like the CESRS system (California Emergency Services Radio System) run by OES, is the likely replacement.

I don't know if there will be separate systems North and South, but the use of CESRS for a fire travel net for strike teams is moving forward.

I show CESRS as:

154.980 input, various PL's depending on location
153.755 repeater output PL 192.8

Yes, CESRS is a statewide linked radio network. Sites can be linked from A to B to make statewide comms. However, Cuyamaca's link is (and has) been broken for quite some time now. So no linking out of SD, but it still works last time I used it.

It's setup is similar to Fish & Game's network.
