I asked the question, so what do I think?

If you haven't bought this radio yet, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR??

It is fantastic!! With everything in the county programmed, one can get more in the 396, and use only about 15% of the memory!! The only thing that I don't like, is you apparently can not change a system type, once you set it up. ie: change from standard to splinter. Has anyone found a solution for this?

Has anyone heard or seen anything about the base/mobile version of the 396 :?: I can't wait :!: :D :D

Yeah - you have to go in and modify the file containing the system by hand (Usually in My Documents\UASD_DataBase\UASD_Systems or something like that)

One of the first lines is starts with "SystemCT" ... The next item after that (separated by a comma) is the system type ...

M82S - Motorola 800 Type 2 Standard
M82P - Motorola 800 Type 2 Splinter
M81S - Motorola 800 Type 1
M92 - Motorola 900
MU2 - Motorola UHF Type 2
EDW - EDACS Wide

You get the idea :)

You can always create an empty system of the type you want and go look and see what the code is for that type of system.
