Re: Air TAC channel?

OK, I just heard Able base contact Western for Able to go to Air Tac 1. I put the scanner in search mode on the city TRS and another radio scanning the air band. The resulting conversation came up on the city TRS talkgroup 3888 which I don't see documented. So, I guess we found a new talkgroup and a...

Re: Air TAC channel?

The other day I heard what I thought was Able Base (on the city TRS) ask Able to switch to Air Tac 1. But I heard no further...

Re: BEARCAT BC860XLT

Compatible with the freqs? Yes. But this scanner is NOT a trunking scanner so the scanner will not TRACK the county or city systems. You can listen to the freqs, but it will be very difficult to follow anything with any certainty as there are MANY users on the RCS and San Diego systems that you migh...

Re: SDPD Cessnas?

Years ago you used to hear an airplane with callsign 2020 assisting in SDPD surveillances - but that has been years since I've heard that.

The only uniden scanners that can pick up the sheriff dispatch/digital talkgroups. is 396T or the newer version 396XT coming out in January,2009 These are not the only scanners you can use for the digital stuff, there are the older 796D, 785D 250D and 296D as well as the GRE line. The 785 and 250 b...

Emer Tone no more?

It appears the SDPD Emer Tone is no more. I heard the other day a dispatcher say that "we don't have the tone anymore" Anyone hear any more about this? Wonder why it was abandoned. It sure came in handy to me narrowing down the interesting stuff while I usually have the SDPD scanner ...

ABLE downlinks

Does anyone have any information about this technology that ABLE apparently has allowing video to be seen from the helicopter in real-time on the ground? I have heard on several occasions dispatchers ask ABLE if they could turn on the downlink. What kind of equipment is required to see that video if...

The patches on all my scanners have always only shown up on ONE of the patched talkgroups on the SD system for as long as I can remember. If Mid-City patches with CityTac3, depending on how the dispatcher patches them, there will only be audio over one of the TGs status bit on, 2256 or 1104. The oth...

The 785 isn't going to trunk when the rebanding phase rolls through and everyone is forced down the spectrum. I wouldn't buy a 785 at this stage if you're planning on using it as a trunking scanner. Uniden does NOT plan on supporting this radio after rebanding. How they can get away with that since ...

According to Motorolas website, there is no such thing as an XTS3100 (unless this is a BRAND new product).
