Some Updated East County Cell Info (with FCC Data Too!)

So it was such a nice day I decided to go for a small road trip to smoke some cigars, drink coffee, and most importantly - play with the scanners! I traveled out Highway 94 to the county line and back up through Mt. Laguna and Julian before coming back to the city and made notes as I could on the sy...

Drove by Station 28 today and saw one of the Ultra XTs ... the new Brush 14 is HUGE! Saw a brand new looking Brush 40 (I think) as well that looks similar to the CDF-style rigs (Model 14?)

Correct - you need a digital-capable trunking scanner if you want to monitor any of the SO channels, any of the local PDs (except San Diego and National City), or Oceanside Fire ... As far as a scanner recommendation, I can't speak highly enough about the Bearcat 296 :) I vastly prefer Uniden's impl...

39056 is definitely CHP El Cajon Tac 2 - I've heard it referred to (and used) several times and called this ... always forget to post :? My guess on the last one is that they're referring to Surcom which is the name of the dispatch center for Fish & Game and the State Parks people. I've heard St...

 They're for the BC246TUASD software from Uniden :) You can download the demo from this link and purchase the key from this link . The software is great for programming the 246T and well worth $40 in my opinion. As far as the links goes, right-click on them and select Save as . It looks like t...

OH! I almost forgot two of the greatest new features - - ID Scan and ID Search are now a per system setting (rather than global) AND - You can set the scan time of each individual system ... For example, each of my trunked systems are set to scan for 5 seconds, while the conventional banks usually g...

The BC246T is the new non-digital scanner from Uniden released late last year ... The 396 is the coming digital version of the above scanner from what I read. The 246T comes with some fantastic new features - - No set bank size or sub-group size ( Memory is used by channels and alpha tags and everyt...

I've seen that maybe a half dozen time in the last year on my 296 - It'll stop decoding P25 and display an error with the digital card. There doesn't appear to be a rhyme or reason for it and rebooting the scanner fixes it.
