New 900 MHz Spread (hopping) HT's coming out

TriSquare eXRS Radios These are supposed to be appearing sometime in March, no prices seen yet. Potentially very handy replacement for the FRS units, should work better inside steel frame buildings at 900 MHz. 'Secure' is only 'can they guess your channel', but when you're using the top end unit, '...

Look at the post I made recently here, and go download the US VFR and US IFR suppliments.

Read through them, picking out the airports/bases you're interested in.

That's the very most recent info you'll ever find, as it's the official info for pilots to use.

Copied from RadioReference California forum, from 'Trooperdude': ----------- Fire Travel channels being replaced with CESRS The current fire travel channel frequencies ( a federal system ) are being re-farmed by the feds, and will no longer be available for use as of the coming fire season. You could use a scanner that doesn't break the status bit subgroups out seperately, that'd make it a lot clearer to you. :) 4195 = Real group 4192 (+3) I don't know what 4192 is, but the +3 means it was patched to another channel, presumably fire dispatch at the time. 4688 = Real group, this one's j...

Welcome to the board, by the way, Tim. Always nice to see a new member show up. Even nicer when they have a view from the 'inside' to share.

Helpful for the listeners to know a bit more about the workings of what we're trying to understand from the outside.

Mystery Shake

Last night's 'Mystery Shaker' did make the newspaper, though only in the 'newsblog' area, but no explanation found for it. Certainly not a quake.

There was no activity on the local military fire trunking system, so it seems unlikely anyone had an 'oops' with a bomb at a local base, for instance.
