Model 14's/Brush rigs

Yes, the new brush rigs (10, 34, 40 and um, one other) were designed to be very similar to the Model 14's built by several vendors. However there are some differences. Our rigs do not have wet sides. In othere words, the tank is not the bodywork. I believe they use a traditional pump rather than the...

Unable to connect

Mike, I've been unable to connect to the files you linked to. Can you check that link? What program are those files for? Any suggestions for programs? I've been using the Butel stuff with great success, but there's not a 246 program yet. Thanks!! John Disregard! I tried to download for about 1/2 an ...

Dispatch talkgroups

I also noticed that dispatch was pretty quiet for a bit there. I know that they were also using DTMF paging to open the station monitors for a day or two as well. I wonder if they were related problems?

Ultra XT's, water tenders and foam rigs

The Ultra XT's will be used as brush rigs. The may well get secondary usage as water tenders. Pretty awesome rigs. The chassis was developed for racing the Paris to Dakar. New water tenders are being looked at in the next few years. And there are some very nebulous plans for a new foam rig. More of ...

Sta 40 units

Station 40 is in Rancho Penasquitos across from the SDPD Northeast substation. Station 46 is in Santa Luz.

One of the new light and air units is slated for Station 40. I don't know how they're planning to fit it. The other will obviously go to Station 1.

Quints

Engines will stay essentially the same as they are now. Some of the future trucks will be quints. I think that they'll all be dispatched primarily as truck companies, but can handle the odd dumpster or car fire. Also, the truck companies will hopefully all have a medic soon.

The monster is yet to come!

There's several more rigs coming soon. A 75' quint is on the way. And a new S&S 6x6 Ultra XT brush rig should be here in Dec.

There's the possibility of 2 more XT's. There will also be 2-3 105' quints and a new tractor trailer aerial ordered soon.

Re: SD Fire

For some unknown reason, my scanner doesnt pick up SD Fire dispatch (5008), the other id's are fine I can hear the engines/medics responding to calls. Phil SDFD recently started patching Dispatch (7A - 5008) and Admin (7B - ????). Seems that too many folks were monitoring Admin and missing dispatche...
