Close Call Help ( another Dumb NEWB question)

Post by Bonkerz619 »

I work near a busy bussines that has a lot of radio traffic. I'm using the close call feature on my BCD 369T. I've captured several Freqs. and labled them, but everytime i listen to that system the lable are always wrong. IE: i'll tag 466.4500 as housekeeping. when i scan that system that channel has different traffic on it. i was able to captuer about 10 different frequencies. Is that a trunked system and if so how do i imput it in to my scanner so the lables are correct. I'm starting to understand the concept of trunking systems, but i don't know where or how to get the ID for this group. IF thats the correct termenology. Help a newb out.

What other freqs did you log and do they display any PL or DCS info? If not, then its likely to be part of an LTR trunk system.

I just used my software to download and this is what i got. I don't see the letters you were asking about.

461.1500MHz
468.4500MHz
466.4500MHz
151 .0700MHz
466.9500MHz
457.2000MHz
462.2750MHz
457.4500MHz
469.4125MHz
466.1500MHz

First off, you need to be aware that 'close call' is giving you the INPUT frequencies that the mobile units are transmitting on, not the repeater outputs, which are presumably much further away from you.

On UHF, 450-454.9875 is outputs (repeaters), 455-459.9875 is INputs to those repeaters, same for all the sub bands. 460-464.9875 Out, 465-469.9875 In.

So, for your list:

461.1500MHz <- This is an output
468.4500MHz <- This is an INput to 463.450
466.4500MHz <- This is an INput to 461.450
151 .0700MHz <- VHF is probably simplex, but uncertain
466.9500MHz <- This is an INput to 461.950
457.2000MHz <- This is an INput to 452.200
462.2750MHz <- This is an output
457.4500MHz <- This is an INput to 462.450
469.4125MHz <- Probably an INput to 464.4125, but might be simplex
466.1500MHz<- This is an INput to 461.150

Of course, if you know who you're listening to, you can try looking them up in the official FCC database, but that's a project in itself, and if they're using a common carrier radio system, there won't be a license under their own name, only the communications provider.

wow thanks for seperating like that. I know that's a lot of work. I'm currently using FREESCAN, how would i imput that into a new system. When i choose knew system it gives me lots of options.
I really do appreciate the help. hopeully some day i get to pay it forward. I'm still real knew to this. I've had my scanner for about a week and have enjoyed every day.
