ASTREA and ABLE

Post by etotman »

ASTREA is stationed at Gillespie and ABLE at Montgomery. I can hear them come and go on the tower freqs. Does anyone know if they use other non-trunked freqs?

Sometimes 123.450 AM and 123.100 AM. Sometimes the pliots talk to each other via these frequencies (ASTREA to ABLE, ABLE TO ABLE(special times more than one up))

Update. Scratch 123.100, it's 123.025 that they use not .100

ABLE and ASTREA

Post by 814 »

ASTREA works 123.100. That is the assigned Search and Rescue aviation freq. Since they are THE SAR helo for the county, they use that for air to air.

ABLE uses 122.775 for air to air. Most of the time its used to talk to News helos working the same scene.

Otherwise, ABLE and ATREA are talking on the ATC freq for the airspace they are in. ABLE spends most of the time talking to Lindberg TWR 118.3 as POLICE 1 or 3.

123.025 is the assigned low altitude air to air freq for LA Basin.

123.1 and 123.45 most common VHF AM for ASTREA and ABLE. CDF uses 122.975 and others for fires.
