New to Scanning in San Diego

Post by k6daf »

I just purchased a Uniden 246 handheld scanner. Nice little unit but I live in the north County and I guess the services up here are digital and all I hear is noise when they come up. What make and model of a scanner either a base or handheld would work to hear those stations?

Thanks Doug

Thanks for getting back to me. Do you know of any mobile or base units that would work for me?

BCD996T is good mobile/base scanner.
Also the PRO-2096 but keep in mind the GRE radios overload quite easily when passing cellular/nextel sites.

Not familiar with the Uniden Scanners, but the one you have should be able to monitor Escondido FD and North Comm formerly Rancho FD. You will need to purchase a digital for all North County law angencies excluding CHP. You also need digital to monitor Oceanside FD.
