Sneaky trick for getting 'live' weather radar

Post by SkipSanders »

Due to the thunderstorm that mosied through here Thursday, I looked around a bit at the various weather radars online.

Most, of course, update only every 10-15 minutes at best, and may take longer than that to get the update 'online'.

However, I discovered that while Flight Aware has the aircraft position info on a 5+ minute delay (due to Homeland Insecurity), the weather radar info ALSO on their flight tracking screen is live, and continually updated. The screen updates itself every few minutes, but if you're in a hurry, a forced reload will download current radar data.

Courtesy would still indicate not to reload more than every minute or two, of course, but it's a lot faster update than the weather channels will give you!
