F/A-18 CRASH

Reports of a military jet, possibly a F/A-18C, just crashed into a residential area in University City. The address for the house that was affected is 6565 Red Deer St. I do not have the address for the pilot but he did eject. There was only one person seen ejecting which is why I think (and pray) it was the single seat version and not the 2 seater version. This is being worked off of SDPD Northern Tac 1. Unfortunately, my radio only gets their primary and I cant hear all the good info which is being passed. If any of you highspeed people have Tac 1 on Northern, keep us updated with facts - unlike the news stations. Thanks.

Update: 2 seat version, only 1 person on board, taken to USN Balboa Hospital. At least 1 house destroyed, more involved with fire. Can see both Miramar and SDFD units in news coverage.

I am not sure how 6565 Red Deer St was associated with the call. That is the info that was provided to a SDPD Lt. That might have been where the pilot was found. Now it seems as if an address on Cather Avenue was where the plane hit and destroyed one or two homes. As of 1510 hours, I am also hearing 2 dead (civilians) who were on the ground either in the home, in a nearby vehicle, or on foot and in the area. In addition to the unconfirmed dead, there are reports of an additional 2 persons missing/unaccounted for. The jet is being reported as a F/A-18D Hornet (2 seater) but there was only one person on board and he is reported to have minor - non life threatening injuries.

3 dead, one missing.

Sounds like this might be the same household that Marti Emerald found the guy's number at work for. :(

As of midnight: 3 persons are confirmed dead. There is a 4th person who is still unaccounted for. Of the 3 dead, they are described as 2 adults and 1 infant. The missing 4th is expected to be a child or infant as well. All of the victims are presumed to have been in the home on Cather Avenue which took the direct hit. What is left now is the recovery of that 4th along with the positive ID of all killed, removal of the wreckage and the re-integration of the residents back into their homes. The investigation will take months I presume. This event is no longer "breaking news" and I will not be posting updates. Check your local or national news stations for the latest and greatest.

The incident was worked on the City of San Diego system, which is currently analog.
