New SDFD Sikorsky S70i FIREHAWK (Copter 3) arrived ahead of schedule from its voyage across the Atlantic. Was just off-loaded at the Port of Baltimore & will be trucked to Coatesville, PA tomorrow. The S70i can deliver between 133%-233% more water than current SDFD copter fleet.
First SDFD FIREHAWK now loaded on ship in Germany for journey to US. Thank you Sikorsky for the warm welcome to the family. Many lives and property will be saved over the many years Copter 3 will be in service.
After it arrives in US, it goes to United Rotorcraft Solutions (Texas) for completion (tank, hoist, landing gear, paint, etc).
Hope to have available in San Diego by late fall when historically the Santa Ana winds have caused most loss of life and destruction of property in SD.
