I heard the other night on the news that they might close the Chula Vista Fire Dispatch center anyone else know about this?

I have not heard that, but I did hear they want to layoff 9 FF's and close a station. Not sure which one.

It's within the PD HQ last I read. Might be academic if the same dispatchers would be moving over to the PD dispatch center.

it is my understanding that due to the current "budget crisis", that CVFD Dispatch is out to bid with both Heartland and SDFD. The dispatchers would not go over to the police side, but would be laid off.

So what were the problems between CVFD and Heartland that caused them to buidl their own dispatch center?

It is official in order for the City of Chula Vista to save money they are closing down their communications center for fire dispatch, they opened it in 2003. San Diego Fire Dept got the contract for dispatching Chula Vista Fire. It will start on March 03,2008.

Thanks pcell61 I heard San Diego was taking over, but I could'nt remember the date. I believe they'll still be using the RCS TG's
