New Medics

Post by codethree »

I've ben hearing dispatches for Medic-80 and 81...not special events, but everyday medical aids. Are these additional "peak load" units or are they assigned somewhere permenantly?

Medic Units

Post by N6766J »

Due to staffing levels, Rural Metro will place peak load units in service, like M80, M81, M70 and M89. You may also hear M71, M72, etc. These medic units are Special Event ALS units at venues like Cox Arena, the I Pay One Center and the like. A couple of nights ag I made an inquiry about M89 and was told that it was the "float" medic and EMT who were not needed to staff sick calls so they staffed an extra ALS ambulance.
