Copter 1 air to ground

Post by ChrisK »

Copter 1 is now using Mutual Aid 20 as an air to ground frequency.

I've also heard them using Tac 33 (referred to as "Oscar").

They were using it to talk to E43. Working a possible SUV rollover in an off road area. Did'nt hear where, but somewhere in the Otay Mesa area. 43's is right off the 905.

Copter 1 also uses Cars 3 at times to communicate with their helitack crew and fuel tender. They did that on Sunday in Julian. That might only be used when they are out of range of the San Diego City system, though.

Brian Fennessy, the head of the air operations department has apparently been promoted. Previously he identified himself as "Air Ops 1" on the radio. Now he's "Deputy 7."

Copter 1 A/G communications

Post by N6766J »

They are still using Cmd 7 and Tac 24 (India) for training and general communications. Since Cars is a conventional 800mHz talk group, it would make sense to use it in the far reaches of the San Diego 800 system.

The new Dep 3 is Lorraine Hutchinson (Operations), Dep 4 is Monica Morgan (Fire Marshal), Dep 5 Jeff Frazier (Support Services), Dep 6 Rod Ballard (EMS/Training). There is no longer a Dep 8.
