The latest version of Air Attack 690 (N1165Z) was at Montgomery Field this morning. They had a meeting on the ramp with a couple of SDFD personnel from the helibase. They were doing some radio testing, with traffic on Mutual Aid 30.

There have been some communications issues on the last couple of San Diego fires that AA690 has responded to. I know that on the fire near Brown Field the other day, 690 was not able to talk to the IC on MA30. They were relaying traffic through Copter 2.

MA30 (or sometimes MA20) is usually designated as the air-to-ground and air-to-air channel for SD City fires. This is sometimes patched with County Red 2, usually when hand crews are present, since they don't have 800 mhz radios.
