Teflon coated cables are approved for use in return air plenums in buildings, because they they do not burn or give off toxic smoke.

If you are using it anywhere except for going thru an air handling space (return air space without ducts), then teflon coated cables are not necessary and are VERY expensive compared to PVC jacketed cables.
