A MUST have scanner!!

Post by w6pix »

w6kbt sent me this pix. I want one!

An 8 track scanner! I guess it can "track" eight systems at once or something????

Does it plug into an 8track deck as a tape and use the amplifier of the 8 track deck to produce audio from the scanner head? Is this real? and if so, did anyone own one?

Of course it's real. The old Bearcat BC-E scanner.

Yes, it plugged into your 8-track tape player to provide the audio. 4 channel, crystal controlled (crystals installed on the bottom), vhf low/high band.

Another picture at: http://www.rigpix.com/bearcat/bce.htm

Oh, while checking, I noted someone has one offered on E-Bay for $15, if you really MUST have one.

I must say, quiet an innovative way to reduce the cost of a scanner...

I remember seeing the ads for that thing when I was in high school.
